Art therapy can help the homeless “re-paint” the current pictures of their lives by exploring feelings, reconciling emotions, managing addictions, developing social skills, reducing anxiety and, thereby, increasing self-esteem.
The application of the visual arts and the creative process within a therapeutic relationship to support, maintain, and improve the psychosocial, physical, cognitive and spiritual health of individuals. In addition, art can be used to (1) raise public awareness, (2) envision creative and collaborative solutions to societal issues, and (3) help clients express and resolve hidden emotional conflicts.
